Sunday 31st May

Kim, a quick note to say thankyou so much for a great weekend. We managed different types of riding, swithcing between trail centers to the breacons, from scenic rdies to tough, tough climbs. Kim was the perfect host, great conversation and great food! We will definately be going back and i'd recommend this weekend to anyone. Once again thanks Kim.

Andy & Phil

Saturday 30th May

I don't know if you have read any of my earlier witterings, but not so long ago I was rambling on about tyres. Well, I've been doing a lot of work in the Trail Centres recently so I put the Fat Albert back on the front. Although the steering is a little sluggish again, the Fat is simply one of the best tyres I've used, it seems to grip on anything. So it's staying on !

A big thanks to Andy and Phil for the last 2 days riding. Quote of the week must go to Phil (who had been using a heart rate monitor throughout the day ). At the top of a rather long climb, Andy asked how his heart rate was, Phil replied " It's down to 117, I feel positively relaxed ! "

Sunday 24th May

A great day yesterday and great company with the Stag TOM and all his friends. It's not often I get the chance to Guide a group of Suoer Heroes ! - take a look at the photo in the Gallery. I think it's fair to say they brought a smile to many peoples faces. The lads all rode really well and a particular mention must go to Will who had never ridden a Mountain Bike before.

Thursday 21st May

" Didn't I tell you that I had a feeling this wouldn't be a one off!  Just want to say a big thanks for looking after the fellas so well.  They all loved it!  They are all showing off their bruises, so proud of all the grazes!  Boys hey!
The 'City Slickers' can't wait to visit again.  I just got a text off John, he's at work and his text read.."I don't want to be here, I want to be in Wales on my bike!" boo hoo.
Thank you for a great weekend, the lads work hard and I think this did them a world of good, to be out in the open and as John would say "At one with nature" - he wants to a hippy now!  "
Kind Regards

Wednesday 20th May

The Bank Holiday is looming, let's hope for some better weather. Last weekend the eponymous 'City Slickers' - John Rob and Dave, endured some 'Proper Welsh Weather' -  come to South Wales and experience the 4 seasons in a day !

I've recently gone back to a narrower tyre on the front, a Panaracer Trailraker 2.1. It's amazing how light the steering feels again. Previously I was running a Schwalbe Fat Albert, which is a fantastic tyre and there's still one on the back, but unfortunately the tyre clearance on the Reebas is a little tight, oh to have a Fox which has loads of room. The downside of a narrower tyre is the front is a lot sketchier on rocky descents and the Trailraker doesn't inspire the confidence the Albert's do on the rooty and rocky sections. Perhaps I should look at running the Prince which I believe has the same tread pattern as the Fat, but is just a little narrower. We'll see how it goes over the next week or so.

Tuesday 19th May

Here it is, our new online BLOG. A big THANKS to Gary for all his efforts in putting this together. Please contact me with your comments, views, questions, anything, it will be great to hear from you.

Looking at the previous entry, I must have bewitched myself as a few days later I had a classic over the handlebar fall, managed to land on my feet but the rear mudguard broke. Now I've always used a Crud Race Guard, but the latter models seem a little less sturdy and seem to flex a little so this time I've gone with a Topeak model. It's not as light I admit but it's certainly a lot more robust. I'll let you now how I get on with it.

Tuesday 5th May

I came across a mud flap whilst out riding tonight, in the middle of nowhere, miles from anywhere, strange, I wonder how it got there. But hey, what a great word - Mud flap ! I wonder if Mr Tomkins ever thought of naming his famous Crud Catcher the Crud Flap, probably not.

Monday 4th May

I recently emptied the Photo Gallery of all last years photos except for 3 that refused to be moved !  I've added some new photos, there's a couple in the snow back in February and a few of Mark when we've been out putting the route together for the multi day ride I'm planning. There are 2 which were taken when we bivvied out.
